It would be in there instead of Posts.

It isn't like the board will stop tracking posts, so going back wouldn't be a problem.

Wow...just looked at the uploaded queue...nice. I'll take care of those when I'm back at my desktop. Thanks :D

Well, in the announcement for the image gallery, I mentioned:
Dark Sabre wrote:If you have a large number of pictures (or any videos) that should be added, please PM me for batch uploading.
Only a couple of people have taken advantage of that, so I should probably try to make it more prominent. Don't know how/where, really.
I can do batch uploading really easily, but there isn't a way to let users use the tool directly. So basically what happens is I give you temporary access to an FTP folder and you can just drag/drop all the pictures to that folder at once. The alternative to that is that you put all the pics in a zip file and email it to me and I'll just take care of it. So if you have more that you would like to add...PM me ;)

Oh then i don't support it. I would only support it if it was an addition, not a replacement. for example, the above quote would be:

Something sorta like this?

I assume being able to have pictures in the questions would be a must...

Well, would this even have to be directly integrated into the forum?
Do you just want to be able to 'take' practice tests?

Exactly, you wouldn't have to print it out (yay for saving the enviorment) although there should be a seprate page for printing it incase you feel like printing it or you need to (like in road scholar you split up the work so there are 2 seprate questions being worked on at once). I would probaly have a seprate link to go to (like to get to the wiki). Anyway it does look good so I compltetly support it.

out of curiosity are we going to ever implant this "karma" thing?

If we did I agree with smartkid-put it in addition to posts, dont replace posts

I have heard that it will be implimented

Why, karma will seperate the spammers from the actual contributors, something that posts can't do. Well kinda.

point taken except for the fact that--a lot of spammers spend their time in posting games and general chat

Two more questions--will stars stay the same for current users? or will they be reset for them to change when a person hits a certain Karma level?

How do we decide what people start with? Like will current users be given a starting level based on
star count?

Still plan to implement it.
The mod I want to use is still marked as "in development" and people are still reporting bugs that would be kinda inconvenient, so not planning to install till it is officially done...should be before the next season starts, but who knows.

Postcount will still exist, but we plan to remove the stars for postcount.

We can make the mod specific to the Event Help forums, so you won't be able to karma people's posts either from the past (probably) or in general chat, etc.

Karma will start at 0, unless we change that for some odd reason. Changing it based on stars would sorta defeat the whole purpose. The only "advantage" that current users will have is that the length of their tenure on the forum will be part of the equation that determines how much karma you can vote onto other people. So the longer you have been around, the more more karma each of your votes counts for.

We will hopefully have a graphical representation of karma. It might be a simple variable tweek on how the stars currently work, but I don't know yet.

Exalted Members/medals will still be around, as that is designed to recognize contributions outside of the forum, which karma can't cover.

Or maybe you could just keep postcount in the user profile like it is now. The info box is too clogged already, so if you're going to add something, I suggest you take something else out. Overall, I like the karma idea, but what is technically a useful post? Is it something like this:
That "stick" is called the "shaft". Any play/wobble in the gear can cause problems. Besides the obvious probability of slipping on the shaft, it can cause the gears to bind and possibly wear extremely fast. The gear may even come off the shaft at the worst possible moment (Murphy's Law).

If the fit is pretty close, with no visible gap, you might be able to glue the gear on the shaft. If you use superglue (cyano-acrylate), be carefull it doesn't run up/down the shaft into the motor's bearing.

If there is a gap between the gear and the shaft. You will probably need to “shim” the shaft to make it large enough for a tight fit. Here are some ways I’ve tried (with varying success):

Wrap tape around the shaft to make it larger. Start by wrapping the tape around the shaft until it is bigger than the hole in the gear. Next cut off and remove short pieces of tape until you get the fit you want. It’s easier to get the gear on if the tape sticks out slightly beyond the end of the motor shaft. This makes the end tapered slightly.

Use an appropriate size brass tubing to shim up the shaft. Hobby stores stock brass tubing in various sizes that are a slip inside each other. You can use more than one size to add layers until the shaft is the necessary size for the hole in the gear.

I’ve used insulation stripped from electrical wires or plastic/rubber tubing. It may take a while to find a size that works and it’s possible you won’t find one.

Finally, I’ve not had much luck getting any method to work reliably, especially under heavier loads. In fact, many commercial methods for adapting gears to various sized motor shafts don’t work well.

At any rate, as the old, old saying goes: Use that lump on your shoulders for something other than a hat rack! Keep thinking, trying and you will succeed. It’s good to ask for ideas, but only you can make them work on your device.
Which could do wonders for someone, or would posts telling newbs not to make new threads and giving them a link to the current one count too? I think it could work with a moderation setting. For example you could have a global setting where if the post isn't a certain number of characters/contains an external link then it couldn't be voted for. Then if a mod sees a post that passes through these requirements, they can take the karma down if it really isn't helpful. Overall, I like the idea (Yes, I know terrible paragraph structure  )
