Using a little more bank angle, lower inclination angle (like 30 degrees) and very low amount of stretch on the rubber band for the initial launches for a new glider should protect against a bad stall and crash and breakage. You’re welcome. You also might find some of the posts in the 2014 Scioly.org wiki for Division C ELG interesting. I answered quite a few questions from a student “fanjiatian” from New Jersey. This student eventually won the NJ ELG state championship for 2014.

While most are v-dihedral, at least one very good basic non-flapped design is tip dihedral, the Stan Buddenbohm “Littl Sweep SO”. Stan doesn’t sell this design as a kit anymore, but you coul contact him about buying the plan. Last I knew, the cost of a plan was only $3.

Also, there are some very good F1N designs that are primarily v-dihedral but have small span tip dihedral too. An ambitious competitor could modify these designs for SO.

Is there any indication of where ELG will be held at Nationals, and estimates of ceiling height? Rumors in WS say indoor track facility with very high ceiling. If ELG also there, that makes testing very hard for mid-school students, since flight height does not have a scaling opportunity like WS does.

If anyone goes to Cornell Invite, let us know what they do there in terms of ELG gym height.

i am pretty angry that a team got their Glider stuck on the ceiling, and the proctors still counted the time. They got 24 seconds, and got first and i got second!

So it just fell down from the ceiling and they stopped the timer when it hit the floor? That really sucks was it at least a decent glider?
