Wheels

Post by MadCow2357 »

I'm ordering my Banebots wheels very soon, but I'm still not entirely sure which ones I should order. I suppose I should boil it down to a few main problems (which I hope you guys can help me with):

1. T81 or T40? T40s are only ~1 cm wide, and T81s are twice their thickness. So, right now I'm leaning towards using T40s since buggy thickness will be huge. On the flip side, however, the T40 hub only comes in metric, which could be a significant problem if I'm using 1/4" threaded rod for my axles.

2. If I ordered T40 wheels, how would I modify a metric wheel hub to fit a larger threaded rod?

3. The softer wheels (green) are the best performing, though they lack in durability. The harder wheels (blue) have less traction, but they have good durability. I'd like some advice on which color of wheels (soft=green, medium=orange, hard=blue) I should buy

4. The Banebots website recommended for customers to buy the softest, but least durable wheels for competition, and harder, more durable wheels for practice. Is it normal to order two or more sets of wheels?

5. Banebots wheels are generally considered to be the best, but I've also heard of skateboard wheels working great, too. Anybody willing to share their opinion on this?

1. T40s because I assume you are wanting a narrow vehicle. T80s get pretty heavy. Downside is banebots don't carry larger diameter t40s anymore.

2. The 6mm will work for 1/4 threads. Hard to get on. You can drill out hubs slightly if needed. The old 1/4 hubs were loose anyway imo.

3. I have used orange I like them. I got a green set this year too to try out. Have had black a couple years ago but way too hard.

4. Depends how much money you have. I did.

5. Doubt skateboard wheels would work well. Serviocity? Not sure if I spelled that right has different narrow wheels. Probably depends on weight of your buggy what is best. They are limited on diameter choices.

Wheel Wobble

Post by Scioly2443 »

My battery buggy does not run straight all the time. I am thinking this is because the wheels have an apparent "wobble" to them. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am using Banebots T-81s on a threaded rod axle.

We had the same problem with our mousetrap vehicle and it’s probably because the hubs have some wiggle space which is what ours has. An easy fix is to this as Windu suggested is to get some tape and put it on the rod then put the wheels over it if that makes sense so its really snug.

That does work, but putting tape over a threaded rod is very unreliable. I tried to do it to, but the wheels slip on the tape, and the tape isn't sticky enough. I suggest putting the using the screws you got in the package for your bane bots wheels and screwing them into their hubs, onto the rod.

Does anybody have 2 7/8" T40 banebots wheels they are willing to sell? I don't care what color now, as long as they are all the same color (I'm fine with 2 and 2 of the same colors).

Im wondering about the banebots wheels - when you buy these hubs, http://www.banebots.com/product/T40H-SM61.html, do they come in packs of 2, or just one? Because it seems really expensive just for some hubs....
