That's cool. I'm a literature person and a fantasy person. (You can be both you know) Here are my faves:
The Inheritance series- Christopher Paolini
The Harry Potter series- J.K. Rowling
The Lord of the Rings- Tolkien (Its fantasy and old)
The Three Musketeers- Alexandre Dumas
The Count of Monte Cristo- Alexandre Dumas
Treasure Island- Robert Louis Stevenson
Kidnapped- Robert Louis Stevenson (once you get over the scottish dialect, it's very good)

I think I read the worst book ever this summer for school. The Pearl. It just didn't do it for me. The other one was okay though. The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. I liked it pretty well.

I haven't read any other John Steinbeck yet, but I'm sure he must have written something good. Started back to school today, and tomorrow I have a test. Wow, that was fast!

Well I had to read Of Mice and Men last year for school it was pretty good if you like that kind of thing but I didn't like it much. Part of this might have been all the work we had to do with it.

meh, steinbeck was ok. of mice and men sucked, however i found the ending a bit humorous in a tasteless way. i heard grapes of wrath was decent, but havent had the time to read it.

Ok, the Pearl was HORRIBLE. OF Mice and Men was decent, and Grapes of Wrath was so boring, I couldnt get past chapter 4. I spark noted it and got an A+ on my essay.

SparkNotes + (lightly) reading the book actually go really well together.
