For the section on "watershed resource management issues", where do I begin? I have literally no idea what that even means, and trying to look it up is just making me more confused...

Re: Water Quality B/C
Per the coaches clinic today, this topic is incredibly broad. I would generally construe it as policy issues relating to water quality and watershed conservation. Issues such as fertilizer runoff, pollution limits/controls, invasive species management, water availability (e.g. dams, rerouting), erosion control, etc. all fall under this umbrella in my opinion.kate! wrote:For the section on "watershed resource management issues", where do I begin? Estuaries, in this event, are a separate topic from freshwater regardless of their definition. So while they can be freshwater in some cases, we don't need to know about them for Water Quality.cpagan wrote:Are Estuaries considered freshwater????? since they are really both fresh and salt??

Oof. The first 5 questions on the test at my most recent invitational were regarding estuarieskate! wrote:Estuaries, in this event, are a separate topic from freshwater regardless of their definition. But the test and ID portion count for 2/3 of the event and the build only counts for 1/3.Jacobi wrote:Shouldn't this event be under lab since you have to build something as well as take a test?

I'm pretty sure the salinometer counts for 5% of the score.kate! wrote:But the test and ID portion count for 2/3 of the event and the build only counts for 1/3.Jacobi wrote:Shouldn't this event be under lab since you have to build something as well as take a test?

The manual says that each part of the competition counts for 1/3 of the score, but then it says that salinity testing counts for 5%.Unome wrote:I'm pretty sure the salinometer counts for 5% of the score.kate! wrote:But the test and ID portion count for 2/3 of the event and the build only counts for 1/3.Jacobi wrote:Shouldn't this event be under lab since you have to build something as well as take a test?
