If I defined one task as ending with hitting a push switch, and then in the next task (such as infrared) I said the push switch connects a circuit, powering infrared, would that be legal under the electricity restrictions?

That seems like it would work. For the action with the two effervescent heartburn pills, would we need to utilize them based on how they chemically react with the water, or do you guys think we can use their physical mass to trigger the subsequent action?

The specific wording used is "into water so the reaction triggers the next action". Let me clarify my thinking really quick: there would still be a tablet-water interaction with the tablets falling into the water, but rather than the chemical reaction caused by adding the tablet to the water triggering the next action, it would be just be the physical action of the tablets in the water that cause the next action. While the chemical reaction still takes place, that property of the tablet-water interaction would be irrelevant to starting the next action.Unome wrote:The specific wording used is "into water so the reaction triggers the next action". That might depend on how exactly it's done. I'm new to Mission, so I've got a couple questions!
1) If two tasks can't run parallel to each other, does this mean that all electricity tasks can only be powered while the action is happening? For example, could an IR receiver be powered by a battery throughout the entire run? I was thinking that the task would begin when an IR source is turned on and end after the receiver senses the light and starts the next action, but would it be interpreted that the task is always running if it is constantly being powered?
2) How will masses of objects (like with the inclined plane/pulley) be checked before competition? I'm assuming that these objects have to be detachable then?
3) How is flipping the quarter to land tails up even possible?

1) I would probably not interpret that as being a parallel task, since there aren't two alternative paths to the final action. 2) I intend to mass the object after the device has run. The only other viable alternative is to mass it before setup.

2.) I would definitely make them detachable. The supervisor may ask to measure them before, after, or not at all .
