Well, How long is your arm? Drive wheel diameter? Diameter of drive axle?

Do the mousetraps go all 180 degrees by the end of the run? Or does the car stop before that? It should theoretically go 960 cm, or 9.6 meters, given the specs you provided.

I think it may be the string he is using. What kind of string or line are you using?

Have you tried a smaller axel? Mine is ~0.5 cm in diameter, and I have a wooden sewing spool in the middle for the extra power to start, and it is ~1.5 cm in diameter. Maybe you could try something like that.

They go the full distance. We honestly dont know what the problem is. Speed is fine, but we cant make it go any farther.

It was kevelar string, but it all broke (dont ask) so were temporaitly using yarn, but theres no difference between them is distance.

This might be a bad question but worth asking. Are we allowed to bend the small metal stick that sets off the mousetraps?

Bending is explicitly listed as a forbidden alteration of the structural integrity of the mousetrap in rule 3.a.

Although you could solder it where you want it to stick farther out, if that's what you want... That is legal. If you want it to not stick out so far, there isn't much you can do...
