Rule 5d
Just need some opinions and clarification on rule 5d where it states
"In the ready-to-run configuration, the vehicle's dowel must touch the cup..."
i take it that this is not the perpendicular dowel used by ES for distance measure as described on 3e but rather the cup pushing dowel?
thanks in advance,
Al

Re: Rule 5d
Actually, it is the dowel that the ES will use for measurements.kinghong1970 wrote:Just need some opinions and clarification on rule 5d where it states

Re: Rule 5d
aaah, so the vertical dowel <1cm off the floor should touch the cup too... noted. thanks!PM2017 wrote:Actually, it is the dowel that the ES will use for measurements.kinghong1970 wrote:Just need some opinions and clarification on rule 5d where it states

Re: Rule 5d
That is interesting. Some events in the past allowed the use of a block that the dowel could fit into. If I drill a hole in the chassis to insert the dowel, How much of the dowel would need to touch the cup. That assumes that none of the chassis would be in front of that tiny portion of the dowel. So would 0.1 mm of opening in the hole be considered as the dowel touching the cup? Gluing it to the car would not be a great idea for transporting, glue failure or stick breaking.

Re: Rule 5d
Is it me or did I not see any requirement for dowel to be 20cm tall for photogate?
I guess with the boom arm swinging it will interfere?
So if dowel need only extend to 1cm from surface then there is less tendency for it to break...
But whether this touches the cup or not would also seriously depend on taper of the cup?

Re: Rule 5d
Can't use photogates with MV because of the whole reversing direction thing, hence the lack of a height requirement.kinghong1970 wrote:Is it me or did I not see any requirement for dowel to be 20cm tall for photogate?

Re: Rule 5d
While it does not have to be at least 20 cm tall, it does need to be "easily identifiable by the Event Supervisor".kinghong1970 wrote:Is it me or did I not see any requirement for dowel to be 20cm tall for photogate?

I hope I memorized that line right...
