Quartz is SiO2. You are thinking of the tetrahedron, which is SiO4, but each oxygen is actually shared between two tetrahedra, so it is actually SiO2.

Recently (last 3 years or so) competition has gotten a lot tougher. My school (Bearden) has dominated and won it 19 times out of 21, but we may actually lose this year, though I am confident that we will put forth our best effort. (Only 1st place goes to Nationals)
