our threaded rod is too small, so it can only be so precise
too late to change now

Ohh ok. My braking system was similar, but apparently had a bigger rod than yours, so we could be more precise.

I think what he means is since the rod has a smaller diameter, precisely getting the increments down is tougher, since there is less margin for error.

i have no time so i have to work with what i have
spent 7 hours with this guy testing over and over and i think i got it
competition on saturday

How do you make a brake setting equation? I have the wingnut traveling along a piece of wood with part of a metric ruler attached to it. I have my data in this doc, maybe you could help. I hope I shared this right...

why do you need an equation?
what we did is just estimate the distance, see how far, and just adjust from there
honestly, our main problem was not straightness or distance, but the stupid battery
it kept running out and screwed up measurements as our skid decreased or increased
i just decreased our thing to 2 batteries and it's still getting 5 second times at 9m
the accuracy is also within 10 every time unless we screw up alignment.

You can make a linear regression on a standard graphic calculator
but tbh, its not really useful, just test your scenarios out
