Re: Change Someones Mind
As a solar systems geek, it's difficult for me to degrade the science Mars. For the sake of the game, here goes!
Peasant, you sit with the universe at your fingertips. The stars, the great nebulae, the soft galaxies and violent black holes. However, you, you believe that sitting around and staring at a big, red, rocky, desolate ball of space rock is the greatest of sciences? Shame on you! Open your eyes and peer BEYOND the solar system, BEYOND the tiny planets and our yellow sun. Out, out into the open cosmos where the true beauty of science lays!
Astronomy is the best, change my mind!

Time to get everyone angry at medxu46 wrote:(I'm not going to reply because if I do at least 5 users (including a mod) will be mad at me)

Astronomy is that no-skill event where you get a laptop for the competition. All you have to do is copy paste everything you find and use control F
Totally not sad that I can't really do astronomy even though I want to cause I don't have a laptop
Anyways who cares about what happens to stars light years away? It's not like they'll affect us any time soon.

Re: Change Someones Mind
Skiing is better because it doesn't require as much balance, and it's easier to take them off in a hurry.

Re: Change Someones Mind
Had to respond to this because I only noticed it now.
And because, as a benevolent admin, I care about maintaining the spirit of the thread:
Control F will only get you so far. You can medal at regionals with control F, but you actually need to know your stuff for nationals and competitive states. In addition, if laptops were such a huge advantage, we wouldn't have an internal Astro debate about whether to use laptops or binders, which for the record, I prefer binders. Penncrest, which was probably the top astro team in the country when I competed, was famous for bringing two binders to competition.Name wrote:Astronomy is that no-skill event where you get a laptop for the competition. They require much different forms of balance and skill, and therefore it's not a direct comparison aside from both of them being on snow. Therefore to claim one as being better than the other is not something that lends itself to a discussion or debate. My personal preference is to go for speed and control rather than to do tricks and whatnot, so my preference is skiing.wellOKthen wrote:My mind is not changed, also, snowboarding is better than skiing
