Also, what’s so frustrating about this tournament? (Aside from information coming out late, I suppose).
That plus cost, of which everything seems to be 2-3 times as expensive as last year.
It is EXTREMELY expensive to get out there. Apparently, there is an "international convention/meeting" somewhere around Denver according to a local charter bus company. But then again, maybe they were referring to the SONT.

And the website is significantly less aesthetic than previous years
Let's call the website... classically styled?

It depends on your state. For most states only the state champion goes to nationals (assuming that's what you mean?). The exception is that the top 9 states in terms of teams registered get to send an extra team to nationals. In NY, NC, IL, GA, FL, MI, OH, or PA then the second place team will go too. California also gets two teams, but that's because it's divided into two sections, North and South, which have separate competitions.

Therefore the top two teams in each division will qualify this year, and likely for the foreseeable future seeing as Michigan is rather large.

Don't know if this is an issue for anyone else, but the AP test for euro is May 18 for me, meaning that I'd have to make it up the following week, which is also coincidentally finals week for my school. Several other people will also have to make up AP tests and it's an annoying thing to deal with, especially with finals pressures.

You'll get used to it. I made up an AP my first year and had the same situation; I just took the final early.

I had an alert set on my phone for prices of flights to Colorado on those dates, telling me every time it changed for months. At no time was it cheap.
