I got 384 at South Shore Seawolves Invy with a target time of 40s. Our rollercoaster got a time of 16 seconds (hehe) but we still got first place (#dubszn) I'll need to work on timing but for now we're set until basically nationals for NY State.

What scores do you guys think will medal at nats? From what I've seen, with a greater target time, I believe that scores of >425 can be achieved.

It is just 100- height. There is no times 2 multiplier.

honestly a score of like 500 or higher will be a definite medal if it works. 400-500 will be sketchy I say but there is that possibility. Scores of under 400 will definitely not medal.

For the score, do the supervisors take the best run or will they combine both of the two runs?

At the Warrensburg invitationals I got first with a score of 211 and 4 gaps the target time was 35 seconds and we hit it dead on with no adjustments. The height is 79 centimeters and it is made of pvc pipe. The vehicle is a steel ball and it usually runs around 32 seconds.

My new roller coaster has a top score of about 405

How did you manage to get that high score, I am assuming you have several gaps more than 10 cm each, how did you manage the consistency and what ball did you use ?

I'm nicks partner and we had 4 gaps of around 21, 14, 11, and 19 with a height of 77cm and time of about 30s. It does require a bit of luck but we made it so that the ball always gets caught somewhere and keeps on going even if the jumps don't all work

That is awesome that you were able to consistently land the ball , were your gaps across the diagonal of the coaster or on the four walls ? The reason I ask is do the track length play a role in how far the ball jumps ?[/quote

Yes indeed the track length does effect how far the ball gets. We tried to maximize the distance the wall travels before it jumps.

So, If I'm reading you right, ramps of the same height can get different gap distances due to ramp length? This is an image of what I think you are saying.

So track B will get a better gap than track A? I thought the longer you dragged it, the lesser the slope, the less force applied to the ball when it is launching. Can you confirm that track B is going to be better?
