Elastic wing covering vs non-elastic wing covering?

What are the benefits of both wing covering and which one do you recommend?

Not sure the we understand the question. Due to the VERY light weight of these airplanes, there is no strength in the wing frame to support any tension in the wing covering, it would warp or break the wing unacceptably. As a result the covering is attached with a small amount of looseness and it doesn't really matter if material is elastic or not (and of course that totally ignores that ALL materials have SOME elasticity).

In general, you will want to cover with some sort of plastic or paper film that is airtight and sufficiently light. Very light japanese tissue paper can be used, some grocery/produce bags, purpose made materials, etc.

Could you be more specific about what materials you are comparing?

Mylar is used by at least some successful teams. I don't know whether it's high-end competitive, but it will definitely work.

Mylar is a commonly used material for rubber powered planes. Key is thickness (thinness?) appropriate to give just sufficient strength without adding excess weight.

For these planes that is VERY thin.

That will be plenty light enough.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. The only film lighter than Mylar that I have seen used in the event is some obscure out of production film that is 50$ per roll. Tissue is heavier, shopping bags are also heavier, I have seen saran wrap, which is the heaviest.
