Jig???

Post by WhatScience? »

Okay...first of apologies if I sound like a noob. Okay, what exactly is a jig...it keeps on showing up in last years discussions but I have no idea what it means. Can somebody post a pic of an example and tell me the benefits/how to use one?

Thanks!

I'm not even in this event, but according to my research and context clues a jig is a tool that helps guide other tools when building. Here's the wikipedia article for it. :)

A jig is, as stated above, a device that allows you to align things more easily. When building a tower, this allows for precise building and repeatability. Balsa Man goes into detail on how to build a jig somewhere (can't remember where).

I have to ask, did you read the discussions you refer to? There is very detailed discussion of what a jig is, why it is important, and how to make one, in last year's AND in this year's posts.
You can't learn from a text book if you just look at the cover.
And there are two photos of a tower on a jig in one of the other threads here on the towers forum. Gonna let you find it
