Re: Herpetology B/C
Already found one ID issue that concerns me.. If you search up the genus Hyla, then the pacific chorus frog images come up. The pacific chorus from was moved from Hyla to pseudacris is the late 1900s.

Yea I have noticed that for a few sources, I have had to double check which family some genus's are in and such.ScottMaurer19 wrote:Already found one ID issue that concerns me.. Re: Herpetology B/C
So if there’s a picture of a milk snake, I write King snake?

Also I'm excited to see that it is or is very close to the NY trial list.
I think the goal of the state-specific lists with Invasive Species was that the majority of teams will not make it to nationals, but having state specific lists *theoretically* helped teams begin to learn about the species invading their state. I can imagine some states, particularly ones with coastal waterways, would be a nightmare (Florida, y'all are my heroes with all you deal with).

Re: Herpetology B/C
Questions:
I) I should make an "entry" in the binder for each bullet on the official list written in black, and include information from the species written in blue, and don't
write anything for the other species in the genera?
II) If it just lists family on the list, I write info about important genera in it & important species in those genera?
III) How do you determine which species to leave out (when it specifies to genera) / what genera to leave out (when it specifies to family)?
Does it go by conservation status, popularity, or distinction?
.

I can answer some:kylg wrote:Questions:

I) That is what I do. If the event proctor did some looking at the rules, they should only put the stuff on the list in tests.
II) I don't really bother with the genera/species in family, species in genus, etc. Again, if the proctor read the rules, they should only ask questions about the lowest classification on the list.
III) See #2.
Turns out I answered all of them.
