Look at "Come Fly With Me" - that's a paper airplane one. NY had it until 4 years ago.

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon
My team did Come Fly With Me as a trial last year. I didn't get to see them do it, but it sounded kind of stupid. One of the two people made a paper airplane, and then the other person tried to throw it through a hoop. That's pretty much it.

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon
i mighta done this event, but i already had 5 events and couldn't (and wasn't willing to) do any more.
it actually doesn't sound all THAT bad. seriously, what's the fuss?
our pentathlon team has fun practicing, at least; i heard they played tag and did cartwheels =D
we had to shoo them from the gym where we were flying the jv team's WS plane, though.

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon
if they're running out of events then why do they keep taking some out like metric mastery, rocks and minerals, and such?croman74 wrote:Does anybody else have the trial event "Paper Airplanes" at their regionals? We have that. I haven't read the rules, as I won't be doing the event, but just from the name I have a feeling that it might be another strange event. I think I'll get a copy of the rules just to see what it's about. Is S.O. running out of events?
*EDIT i asked my coach and he said that there are millions of things they could do
i dunno what to write. oh i know! wait never mind. hmm. ive got it! i shall meh a lot. no that doesnt seem like much fun hmm oh ive got it. if youve read this ive just wasted about 16 seconds of your life

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon
They're not running out of events - they have plenty to rotate in and out. Trial events exist to try and work new events into the rotation. Which is why they're trials - they try them out ahead of time.

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon
There is absolutely no shortage of events. On soinc, there are around 50-60 NEW trial events that have never been real events. Along with this, there are tons of old events that could be brought back. Pentathalon was event for along time when science olympiad started, and so they probably wanted to try it as a real event again. I can't say i agree at all though
