Has anyone ever been allowed to do this? I feel this is highly unlikely because only two tracks would be available for 60 teams so unequal amounts of testing would result. This differs from EV or Air Traj where everyone can test at the same time

Yea it makes sense that there won't be testing on the tracks ahead of time because the track is a big part of the competition. Working around every tray from a rug to a ice rink is part of the challege of this awesome event!

It would be very nice to know at least what the surface will be so we can build our tracks.

I'm presuming this is only for Div C?

The track is just going to change the coefficient of friction. If you test on a track with a different coefficient of friction, which we probably all will because we can't know 100% how he made the track, what the rails were and all the stuff that effects it, you just have to know how to account for different coefficients of friction in your math and calculations. Its a physics event after all ..

It also makes it the most fair if we are kept in the dark about the track until we have to run it. Every team that either checks the forum or not will be on the exact same page

Just wondering, is a potentiometer considered an integrated circuit? Is it a resistor?

Thanks.

Depends on the specific one. Usually resistors aren't (as far as I know) but potentiometers sometimes are. I'd suggest you look at it closely (and also consider how easy/difficult it is for an event supervisor to determine whether or not it's an IC).

Almost all potentiometers/rheostats are not considered ICs. If it is a dial adjustable pot, then it is most likely just a resistor with a wiper (which makes it not an IC).

Oh yea rheostats.. Why are they so expensive on digikey? The one on amazon that is 50W 5 ohm is like 15$, and then all the ones on digikey are wayyy higher iirc. Do you know why that is? :?
