Immediate thoughts:
- Really strong showing by LM; I'm not sure they'll break through the Stoga/Rustin bloc but they might have a shot at 4th or 5th. Will be watching for how they do at UPenn
- Likewise, Penncrest seems to be struggling. I'd assume it was because they had people missing, but I don't recall them having a super strong result at any invite yet. Again, will be watching at UPenn.
- Shady Side definitely had people missing. In the scoresheet they had a good amount of medals, and also some events they didn't do very well in. They're better than this result.
- NE PA is going to be very interesting. North Pocono, Abington Heights, Stroudsburg, and Wyoming Area all placed 13th through 17th. If I had to pick an order, I'd probably follow that, but this is looking like a pretty competitive year for the region.
- After the top four, NE PA is wide open. Wallenpaupack (6th in region last year) did okay, but seem to be pretty clearly behind the top four. Lehighton, another occasional state qualifier, placed even further behind. Dallas is consistent, but I also don't see them getting close to the top four without any invitational experience. Teams like ES South, Athens, and Pleasant Valley are going to have real shots at those final two or three states places.
- For CE PA, NW Lehigh is probably the favorite again. Parkland has talent and will probably place somewhere in the top 3, and may sneak in the back end of the top 10 at states, but I have a feeling they're not done improving. Other than that, there's not much surprising; I wouldn't be shocked if the same teams qualify for states again, with maybe Whitehall sneaking in for 6th or 7th.

Top Ten in case that ever gets removed*:Avogadro wrote:Just so y'all can start discussing the results (I might jump in later), results from Penn are as follows:

1. Mason (89)
2. Harriton (187)
3. Harriton (189)
4. Fayetteville-Manlius (194)
5. WWP-South (203)
6. Montgomery (205)
7. Ward Melville (218)
8. Lower Merion (248)
9. Syosset (253)
10. Shady Side (260)
*Wind Power and Helicopters were not included in the final scores
Some analysis: Very strong showing by Mason, beating even a split Harriton by that margin is very impressive, and I think they have what it takes to make it out of Ohio, but we'll have to wait and see.
New Jersey is going to be very close this year, with Montgomery, WWP-N, and WWP-S all at the same level.
New York is also going to be very close, although I personally hope GNS makes it, but it looks like F-M could make a return to Nats.
Rustin also didn't bring builds so it's hard to compare them with everyone else, but it's also kind of hard to talk about PA with Conestoga and Strath Haven absent.

Re: Pennsylvania 2017
Went to UPenn.
Mason did impress the crowd-- congrats to them!
Harriton definitely impressive with split teams (guessing not stacked by B winning)
As maxxxxx pointed out, hard to discuss PA without a ton of teams and Bayard going in low key.
The competition itself was really good for a first year! Definitely kinks in the wind power and helicopters situation, but tests were good across the board and the logistics were generally solid.

Re: Pennsylvania 2017
I will be posting my list shortly; gotta get results from Little Tiger and write it up first. I will likely be doing Southeast in one post, and then the rest of the regions in another after North Pocono and EPC are done.
