Is this allowed?...(important)
Re: Is this allowed?...(important)
Well, According to my coach, they told her that we had to be DQed for being late(which there is no such thing) and she said that we were waiting for impound so we had an excuse(which is true) and they said "OK it's fine then". And then they didn't tell her anything later on and we found out DURING the results that we were DQed. So basically, they did it behind her back. It's a conspiracy. Conspiracy i tell you. 8D

Doesn't sound like you were DQ'ed then. DQ'ed is usually last+2 (so you'd get 16).

Um, I think you had a very strict proctor who did not know the DQ procedure or a proctor with an agenda

Well, there's a difference between "they don't have to notify you" and "there's no guarantee that they will notify you." Technically speaking, they are required to tell you if you're being disqualified. That doesn't mean they will, though. Most event supervisors will not DQ you for anything as trivial as coming in a few minutes late, or any other minor infraction like that. Some will give a few penalty points, but again, they are supposed to tell you and your coach (regardless of whether they do or not, that is the rule).Skink wrote:They don't have to notify you, and they can disqualify you for almost even what you eat for lunch that day. It's been done to me before, and, as a former event supervisor, I have an idea how tyrannical some of them can be. It's life...
When I was disqualified, my head coach complained, but we got nada. The event supervisors can do pretty much whatever they want with no penalty.
