Placed 2nd at Islip Invites (Battery was not charged so did much worse than it could have).
:o

This is exactly the kind of device I imagined when I saw the rules; so nice to see it put into practice :D

VERY slick. And looks reasonably tolerant of initial position of penny stacks.

The tolerance was in fact much better than I expected, mispositioning the pennies by 1-2 cm will still allow the collector to be successful. However I found it hard to get the bottom perfectly flat so I'm redesigning it so that nothing needs to go under the pennies.

Is it allowed for our arm to extended outside of the competition area when it's just moving around if it's just hovering over the ground?

Like if the actual base of the arm was still in the 25 cm x 25 cm box, but as the arm moved, it swung over the ground outside of the 75 cm x 75 cm box just to maneuver.

He's lanky.

Thanks!

I'm quite sure there is no rule against the robot arm/game elements going outside the playing field (unlike last year), so having your robot go outside the field or move pennies outside the field should be perfectly legal. At least that is how i interpreted the rules and how the event was run at my invitation, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Moving the arm outside the field area should not be a problem as long as the "foot" stays in. I can't imagine someone setting up the field right next to a wall. But don't count on being able to move pennies outside the field. Sometimes the field is set up on a table, and then the only thing outside the field is a big drop off.

Lol we didn't really "think of it" it's just kind of a byproduct of how our arm is.

Yeah again, that wasn't the intention. lol hopefully we don't drop the pennies off the table on accident if it IS on a table. I would probably just hysterically laugh
