Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Does anyone know of good articles for m. Engineering and societal practices to mitigate hazards and protect human life in tectonically active areas.? I tried searching but couldn't find any, especially for the societal practices.

There's a nice Wikipedia article on prediction of volcanic activity, which should help for parts of it.freed2003 wrote:Does anyone know of good articles for m. Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
They appear to me to be mostly the same thing, except the term "sedimentary basin" is used in the context of sediment influx (this is just from a few minutes of reading the internet though). I'd recommend on a test putting the one that seems most suited to that particular question.chscioly wrote:What's the difference between sedimentary and tectonic basins? Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Why isn't there a practice test for dynamic planet!??!?!?!? I really need one and can't find one.
Uggghh are "earthquakes and volcanoes" good enough for tectonics?

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Tectonics is a brand-new topic, so that's why there are no tests. Earthquakes and Volcanoes is a different topic, but it definitely helps to know the basics of that info, since event supervisors will probably use some of the info this year. The Captains Tryouts tests will probably be posted in January, so you'll get one Tectonics test then.als9126 wrote:Why isn't there a practice test for dynamic planet!??!?!?!? Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Adding off of this, I did Earthquakes and Volcanoes when it was last around. When I compare that to the current topic, Tectonics is a lot more broad in its scope. Earthquakes and Volcanoes are still included within the event, but there's a lot else involved with the event now that isn't going to be covered in old tests simply because it wasn't required. So while topics found in those old tests are likely to remain relevant, keep in mind that there is another newly added dimension to the event.Unome wrote:Tectonics is a brand-new topic, so that's why there are no tests.
