Its not my tower, found it on google images...I don't do towers, but it looked similar to the ones being built by my teammatesRandom Human wrote:Hey windu34windu34 wrote:This is a good oneRandom Human wrote: I have built a couple towers but the issue now is I want some photo of scioly towers so I can get some ideas to improve my tower and compare mine to yours. Find my flaws and improve myself.
So can anybody post a picture of a decent tower?
Thanks for posting your tower.
My question now is: How much did that tower weigh and how much did it hold. Also, what division are you in?

Note that this tower follows the old 2012 rules, where the tower had a width limitation above a certain height (hence the shape).

Re: Pictures, Videos, and Scores
That's really important to understand. Under the 2012 rules, the bottom had to span a 20x20cm opening, but for a C-Div tower, at 30cm above the base (40cm above for B-Div), the tower had to fit inside an 8cm diameter circle. There is no such requirement this year; there is no reason to build a '2-piece' tower this year, you had to in 2012. There is no advantage, there is only disadvantages. The straight-leg configuration as shown in the drawing is what you want; period. The only photos out there that I've seen this year are from 2012. Interesting history, but not applicable to this year's rules/competition.Unome wrote:Google gives all of the answers: link.windu34 wrote:Its not my tower, found it on google images...I don't do towers, but it looked similar to the ones being built by my teammatesRandom Human wrote:

Are you Division B or C?Clueless Builder wrote:First tower of the season.
Mass: 8.4g
Mass held: >15kg (probably around 25-30kg)
20-30kg is based off of estimates. We only had a max 500g scale so it is a pain to measure more.
Ratio = 15000/8.4 = 1786
Our ghetto chain ended up breaking before the tower so it may have held more, but it was already over max weight so it doesn't matter.
To put that score into perspective my best bridge last year was around 1500.
