Len, congrats on first place, and everyone else who completed their regionals. Are you building more for National?

And dholdgreve is so far right on, he has been event supervisor for a long time and he knows what he is talking about. So far, the official best scores are right around low 1000s, or may be Aia beats it by a lot with 1000+ margin over 3rd place?

I finally broke 1,700 for C division. I had built 2 bridges for my state tournament which was yesterday. i submitted one of them and it picked up a lot of weight in the storage room. but today i took my extra bridge and i baked which lowered the weight to about 7.9 grams. and it held up 13.53 Kg. which gives it a total efficiency of of about 1712. I just wish i could go to Nats. it would be extremely nice. and im not gunna share my design entirely. i posted a picture of it on this site for 24Hrs. so those of you that saw it kudos.

Congrats again, frontlineballer1. I think it's possible to count the number of people who've been over 1700 for this event on 1 hand.

But, hogger, it's true - best scores are definitely better than low thousands now.

This is my first year doing the Elevated Bridge division B. i just competed in the regionals and got 1st place out of 14 teams. My bridge weighed 17g and held 10.5, with a ratio of a little over 600kg/g. The surprising things is that i thought that 600 would be horrible, but i won nearly by double score (the 2nd place team got 350 for the ratio). How good is that compared to other state teams do you think? I looked at the previous comments and wow! 1700 for the ratio Wow, is there a way so that i can get at least 1,000 for the ratio? My team is going to state (Indiana) and I want to get 1st in state as well. Thanks

I won't release my efficiency, but when I said that 1st and 2nd place were better than 3rd and 4th place by >1000pts, I really meant what I said.

On a side note, congrats frontlineballer1 on your score. How many bridges did you have to test to get that high of an efficiency?

We ran B & C bridges at the West Liberty, Ohio Invitational. First let me take just a moment to say what a wonderfully organized, professionally run Invitational it was! Hard to believe that this was their first Invitational! Nice job John and Cameron!

There were 26 C Teams and 23 B Teams that competed in Bridges. The 26 C teams averaged an efficiency of 550 and an average bridge weight of 19.89 grams. There were awards handed out to the top 6 bridges. The top 6 Division C Bridges had an average efficiency of 1,005 and an average weight of 10.55 grams.

Now for Division B... Overall, the average efficiency of the 23 B teams was 743, with an average weight of 12.00 grams. As for the Top 6 places in B, the average efficiency was 1,297, with an average bridge weight of 9.37 grams.

If I remember correctly, of the 49 bridges tested, 6 were placed in tier 2.

I think this is a much more difficult event than bridges of the past and frankly was amazed at the quality and wide ranging designs of the Structures! In years past, everyone just copied the best bridge from the last invitational, but that does not seem to be the case for this year! Nice job all!

If those are the AVERAGES, and usually at a competition the top 1-2 are extremely ahead of the other bridges, then the top efficiences in both division must of been very high
