ok, thanks. i have a different book, but i'll try to find a topic like it.AlchemyRocks wrote:My AP Biology book is the 8th Edition AP Biology book by Campbell and and Reece.2win wrote:Do you know what the chapter was on? I have a bio book too but I'm not sure if it covers the same thing.AlchemyRocks wrote:My main source for info for this was going down the Rules sheet and typing what I didn't know into google.![]()
That, plus a chapter out of my AP Bio book. But that was just dumb luck that it happened to be the Chapter we were working on the week of Regionals.
The chapter was Chapter 37: Soil and Plant Nutrition. It helped give me basic concepts and an introduction to the plant nutrients.

Re: Environmental Chem
I updated/made the B Division Environmental Chem. Wiki for this. There was almost nothing on there so I gave a complete overhaul.

If you go on http://virginiaso.com/eventinfo.htm you can find a test that was used during a competition, I found it very useful.

I think it's good to know about which types of crops like what kinds of soil. ex: tomatoes like soil thats acidic, sweet corn likes soil thats also acidic (but less than tomatoes) and lettuce likes neutral to basic soil. know your absolute, vital and trace nutrients.
To test soil ph, I suggest you do a 1:5 ratio of soil:distilled water, let it sit or shake it up and then stick the ph paper in.![]()
That's about all I know... Anything else I missed?
It's my school's first time to compete and I am a complete newbie.![]()
This is part of what you need to know.

Re: Environmental Chem
Sorry that the exact link was dead. What you should do (And I know this will work): Google "Virginia Science Olympiad", click the first link, at the top of the page there will be options that you can click. Click event info and go down to enviro chem and click on the test link. If you don't know the answers, look them up, because some were on the regionals test I took.
