Re: Roller Coaster B [TX Trial]
Tournaments outside Texas might be running the event, and some Texas tournaments might not be running the event. The "[TX Trial]" indicates that it is run somewhere in Texas, but doesn't mean it won't be run outside of Texas.brayden box wrote:When you say "TX", do you mean the event is only for Texas?

Re: Roller Coaster B [TX Trial]
This event was run in the Northern CA State competition. The way the rules are currently written, one team noticed that the 'target time' the EC chooses is basically worthless since the Run Score is just your total run time x 2 and your time penalty after the target time is only -1 so you still get a net +1 for every second after the target time, up to one minute total (when, per the rules, the run is over, so it's gotta finish before that or be a failed run). Feels like this will eventually change so that the Run Score is your run time UP TO the target time x 2 instead of the total run time.
Another way teams got a lot of points was to make it really low to the ground and get the height bonus as large as possible. There were very few teams with gaps at this time.

Cool loophole (which we will be promptly correcting in the rules;)SOPomo wrote:This event was run in the Northern CA State competition. Re: Roller Coaster B [TX Trial]
Roller Coasters was run in Indiana Division B this year in place of Bottle Rockets (mainly because of weather and other logistical concerns). I heard that many teams (if i remember correctly, only 5 teams had tier 1 rollercoasters) were tiered for their rollercoaster design.

We figured it was a loophole that would be corrected and wrote about it in the review of the event we were given. We assumed this was likely to replace Mission Possible in another year, perhaps?chalker wrote:Cool loophole (which we will be promptly correcting in the rules;)SOPomo wrote:This event was run in the Northern CA State competition.
