Perhaps harik2000 does mean low friction, as CD wheels without tires would experience little friction with the ground. But I do agree that high friction tires are more useful for the event since eventually you want to brake, and traveling across a floor with wheels that have no grip is difficult. But involving the axle, you would want low friction.

If you use a previous guess at time of under 2 seconds, you definitely will need high grip wheels or the tires will spin significantly. As well as wasting time and energy, the car will probably not go straight at the target. Then, stopping. If the ES puts the stop point at 9.0m, you will have .5m to slow down and stop. If you use wheels for brakes, it would be nearly impossible to go from about 10 miles per hour to a dead stop in that distance with CD's.

Can be easily done, but will not be able to go nearly as fast due to their motor's lack of speed and torque
