Finding Sponsors

Hello all,

I am trying to find sponsors for our Sci Oly team. Our Treasurer has drafted a letter asking for donations, but that is about it. I know that some other teams in our area ask the parents to create a 501c3 organization so that they can purchase resources through there instead of being limited to the official school vendors.

However, I have no idea how to set-up a 501c3 organization. Also, would it be beneficial to make a custom website? make a promotional video? drive around town and looking for local businesses and asking if they would sponsor us?

Does anyone have some advice for this?
