Re: Iowa 2015
So who normally does well in Iowa? (I could look at the state page, but someone that's been there likely has more info about stuff like point score differences).

Re: Iowa 2015
Okay, basically Iowa's science olympiad is complete trash. Everyone there sucks. We don't even have a regionals, there's only about 6-10ish teams at state (but some of the schools have like 3 scioly teams each so..) Ames High School has never lost (ever) and they don't come close to losing. Ames Middle School had an undefeated record, but then Mt.Vernon Middle school won 3 times. The next best is Johnston, however they aren't nearly as good as Mt Vernon or AMS because it's less competitive for them and serious.

Also-- I see you're from GA? Are you from one of the top scioly middle schools? My friend lives there and she goes to GSMST (division C) and they win pretty much every year.

I'm from one of the better schools in Georgia; hopefully we'll make Nationals (state is tomorrow!). Also, like I said previously about point differences, you only know if you're in that state; GSMST may have attended Nationals for the past 4 years, but in-state competition is fierce; Chattahoochee was 4 points away from their spot in 2013, and other teams have likely been close as well (knowing how competitive GA C usually is).seasalt_ wrote:Also-- I see you're from GA? Re: Iowa 2015
yeah, my friend told me. For middle school It's just competitive between my school and Mt Vernon. 3 years ago we lost by three points, 2 years ago we lost by two points, 1 year ago we lost by one.. I'm praying my team will make it this year. If we both end up going to nationals we should totally trade with each other and we'll see whose better at metero! (Probably you guys, but still)

I do have to say that GSMST getting 4th was a bit of an upset- Northview got 3rd and beat them by 2 points.seasalt_ wrote:Did you guys end up making Nats? my friend from GSMST unfortunately didn'tUnome wrote:I'm from one of the better schools in Georgia; hopefully we'll make Nationals (state is tomorrow!).
