For example, the distance might always be 10 meters, but there's a time window of 5-15 seconds that you have to be able to achieve.
Ok, the name of the event is "Scrambler". Now, slowing down the event to a time period is, in my opinion, kind of ridiculous due to the fact that the whole point of the event itself was so that the egg has a possibility of scrambling. If you slow down the vehicle why would there be a need for an egg? That is just my input on that possibility. Also, I really don't mean to come off as a jerk in anyway. Oh, and I would also dislike this event if they slowed it down. Personally, MagLev was ruined for me because they slowed it down. I'm more of a speed demon type of guy
Last year's maglev was the best event ever! There was even blood on the walls at nationals. This year's maglev was beyond boring; there was a danger sign on our old track that basically said the thing would cut your arm off, we considered replacing it with something that cautioned of your possible death due to the event's lethal levels of disappointment.

Was there really blood on the walls? I guess Scrambler damaged the building the most (dents in gym floors, at least for our state tournament)

Just for argument's sake, we're thinking of target times with the expectation that it'd be somewhere around 5-15 seconds. They could easily make it something like 2-6 seconds, which while the range is too small to be feasible to actually be a rule, it still is possible. I mean, the objective of this would be to travel as close to the target time as possible as close to the center of the target line all without breaking the egg.
While I don't think they'd adopt this rule, I do think they'd change Scrambler so that it's something more than just launching the egg transport as fast as you can. There were plenty of teams that got around 2 seconds in run time and were less than 10 centimeters off. These teams have a huge advantage over other inexperienced teams next year if scioly really just kept the nature of the event to speed and survival of the egg.
Thus, while hard to implement, I do think that they'd change something more than dimensions, and go as far as game changers like adding a curved path, ideal times, mandatory contact of the wall, dropping the egg and coming back, etc.
The funniest thing was the team with the hockey gear to protect themselves.

I didn't know that people were talking about maglev, and when I saw that I was seriously confused. Goggles not mandated, but hockey gear? Sure![/quote]
Yoooooo, You're from kentucky too!!! Do you know your Run Score because I won our state for Scrambler, but I dont know by how much and I'm realllyyy curious to how other people did.
Kinda irrelevant, but I had a few problems with my drive string this year. My car had an angled stick on the back of it, and a loop of string pulled the car forward. Often, though, the car was pulled upward as it exited the launcher, as if the loop of string failed to come off of the angled hook. Can anyone suggest better release mechanisms/point me to a few pictures?
