Re: Mission Possible C
Just to clarify, is a home-made battery legal? …and would it count as a scorable transfer?

Re: Mission Possible C
Homemade batteries are not legal, even if they where they wouldn't be worth the points. Homemade batteries are in efficient. Also while on the topic, you can not claim energy transfer points for a batterie. Remember to make sure that they are factory sealed and labeled batteriesisaysroar wrote:Just to clarify, is a home-made battery legal? …and would it count as a scorable transfer?

1. Are you going to nationals?12565853 wrote:Does anybody have a good idea for an electromagnetic spectrum to mechanical transfer? I can't find anything.
2. You will not find anything directly, it's too close to nationals. Take what you have learned in your science classes and apply it to what you need. Don't look past the small things.

The ETL sample sheet on sonic.org is only a reference for format(Section 4c. In Rules), not interpreting energy transfers. It only hurts you to not claim every possible thing that you can. NiChrome Igniting a match, in my opinion, would be:XJcwolfyX wrote:That would be Thermal to Thermal. (It says on teh sample ETL that is posted on Soinc.org)
NiChrome heating head of match (Thermal-Thermal)
Heat from NiChrome ignites match(Thermal-Chemical)
Chemical reaction creates heat. (Chemical-Thermal)
Just because a transfer is small doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Re: Mission Impossible C
In the rules though doesn't it say one step can only count for one transfer? the step is the lighting of a match, so wouldn't those steps be claiming more than one transfer per event?twisty14 wrote:Phys1cs wrote:what transfers would nichrome wire heating up a match head, which ignites teh match, creating a flame?

Yes, it says, "A single action must contribute to only one scoreable transfer."Phys1cs wrote:In teh rules though doesn't it say one step can only count for one transfer? teh step is teh lighting of a match, so wouldn't those steps be claiming more than one transfer per event?twisty14 wrote:teh ETL sample sheet on sonic.org is only a reference for format(Section 4c. That still doesn't change anything though. There are still 3 actions:
1. NiChrome Makes heat
2. Heat makes fire.( burning, no matter what the material, is always a chemical reaction.)
3. Fire makes heat.

I'd just rather play safe than sorry, and always, these aren't in anyway official clarifications, they're just opinions.
