Same for me. I know we're going to fail if someone gives us another test like Regionals though; the material was National level.vennowsah wrote:It is pretty simple once you have all the DNA areas figured out. The only thing I had trouble with was pedigree analysis, but that can be mastered pretty easily with sufficient practice. I do hope it doesn't get too difficult at state though.Unome wrote: Also, am I the only one that thinks Heredity seems sort of easy?

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
Bio-Process Lab is rotating in for Heredity, and a big portion of that event is Heredity, so it's not that much of a big deal.PicturePerfect wrote:Wait. WHAT?!?!?!??!rfscoach wrote:It does rotate out. Just not until next year.PicturePerfect wrote:Woohoo! Anyone else as happy as I am that Heredity doesn't rotate out with anything?

Really? O.o Where did you get this info?Astroknight wrote:Bio-Process Lab is rotating in for Heredity, and a big portion of that event is Heredity, so it's not that much of a big deal.
I'm mildly freaked out now.

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
Do you remember what Designer Genes rotates out with in C Division? There's no Bio Process Lab there, and I just can't remember what event it rotates with, if it even rotates out at all.Astroknight wrote:Bio-Process Lab is rotating in for Heredity, and a big portion of that event is Heredity, so it's not that much of a big deal.PicturePerfect wrote:Wait. I was thinking Microbe Mission, but I think I remember Microbe and Designer Genes happening at the same time.

Cell Bio should rotate in next year, but I could be wrong.gneissisnice wrote:Do you remember what Designer Genes rotates out with in C Division? There's no Bio Process Lab there, and I just can't remember what event it rotates with, if it even rotates out at all.

They might make up a new event, though I don't think that new events are put into rotation without being tested as trials first.

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
You're right, it should be Cell Bio. I did Cell Bio in my senior year and I'm pretty sure Designer Genes wasn't an event that year.frogzorz wrote:Cell Bio should rotate in next year, but I could be wrong.gneissisnice wrote:Do you remember what Designer Genes rotates out with in C Division? Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
Does Cell Bio still involve a little heredity?gneissisnice wrote:You're right, it should be Cell Bio. Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
You realize you can always check the Comprehensive Event Listing page to get a good idea of what's going to rotate in.
Division C:
Designer Genes-> Cell Biology -> Microbe Mission
Division B:
Heredity-> Bio-Process Lab-> Microbe Mission
Division C:
Designer Genes-> Cell Biology -> Microbe Mission
Division B:
Heredity-> Bio-Process Lab-> Microbe Mission

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C
It's been a while since I did it (and I also picked it up the day before the competition because the person who was supposed to do it couldn't make the tournament), but from what I remember, it didn't really have a ton of DNA replication stuff on it. I think you did have to know cell reproduction, but there was a bigger emphasis on other stuff, like structures, organelles, functions, and processes like cell signaling and communication.Celestite wrote:I hope so... Cell bio is all the processes that happen in a cell? I guess that includes DNA replication and all that, right?
