While Mr. Miller is talking, everyone should give the three finger solute from The Hunger Games.

Seriously though, I don't know what anyone could do, but the team greatly appreciates any show of support.
No petition?
I was being serious. ._.

You could try a petition, it couldn't hurt.

We could certainly do a petition as well, but I think that something more visible would have more force. Armbands? What are your school colors?

Time is short. It would have to be done quick and by other current teams. Leader types who are students or coaches or individually people could flood the board with letters. The rest of the state would have to be real loud. The goal would be to reverse the decision in the next day. Do all the teams know about this. I'm writing from afar so I don't know. Guess it could include teams in other states too if they object to the spirit of SO being harmed and students being treated so harshly and unfairly.

Not sure how well known it is but I know that there are quite a few teams that are well informed. For instance, FM, syosset, half hollow hills, stuy, great neck south all know about the disqualification. Beyond those schools, I'm not quite sure.

Thanks for your support guys. We'll let you know if there's anything you can do.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

I love the armbands idea, we'd really appreciate something like that. Thing is we're still trying to do anything we can to get to compete, at that point it'll be too late.

Since no one from our team has really talked about what happened, I guess I will. It's absolutely awful, we were told only recently but continued to study and build while our school district appealed the decision. It's just totally heartbreaking. Imagine if this happened to you/your team.

Our district has always loved SciO and just last week we did a little SciO booth for elementary school kids with some of our build events; our alumni volunteered at the Yale Invitational this year and like Mr. Vorwald said, we've hosted regionals as well. Although we might not have the most school spirit or be the most active members on this forum, we really, really care about SciO and work hard for it.

As far as I know, Mr. Miller is sticking to his "rules are rules" stance. I don't think he considers the impact this has on the students or the spirit of Science Olympiad as an organization to be relevant to his decision. Our check being two days late, it seems, is the only matter of any importance.

We're all really upset. I guess I'll donate my entomology books to the library.

Not only do we work our tails off for SciO and really love it, but SciO makes an incalculable difference for each and every one of us. SciO has taught me about myself and the person that I want to become; it's cultivated my love engineering and nurtured a passion that I want to develop in college and beyond. It's had its ups and downs but it's always been worth it in the end, and I've always pushed myself to reach the level that my teammates, my competitors, and I myself set for my work in SciO. It's is a home for all of us, and the things I hear from my teammates right now- my friends- are so saddening, because of how much we all care and how thankful we are to be a part of this wonderful experience.

I guess the people on the other side of the table just don't see SciO in the same way we do, and that's really disappointing.
