Can anyone tell the difference between Lestidae and Coenagroinidae? Besides the wing difference I mean.

Haha, I wish we didn't have to know them either! I'll work on that, though my regionals are on Saturday so I better figure it out soon! Also, we're allowed to have computer pictures on the cheat sheet right? Because one year in forestry everyone's cheat sheet was taken away because apparently you couldn't have computer images on it.

You're absolutely allowed to have images on your cheat sheet. I would be that one person to get really, really loud if someone tried to take away my cheat sheet because it had images. Really loud.

Does anyone have a good way to ID tenebrionidae? It just looks like other beetles to me, and I have regionals tomorrow so if anyone could help out, thanks!

Also, http://www.about.com/has some good stuff about some of the families/facts in general.

Wikipedia helped me a lot. But I basically just found images online and quizzed myself on the identification. Once I had that down pat, I practiced with the guide, using random questions that I would never be able to learn on my own...

For quizzing online, I have used the tester (http://scioly.org/users/balsa/public/Sc ... index.html). I like it because it only has stuff on the official list, whereas just online could have families/orders not on the list.

Absolutely. The tester worked great for me. If there was something that I didn't know from there, I practiced with that family until I could differentiate them so I wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Did you memorize all 100 families and 30 orders? I am trying to memorize most of the families for states, just to know in case there are tightly timed stations.
Orthoptera families are the hardest ones to memorize for some reason.

My partner and I collaborate to cover all 100 families/30 orders, and we didn't know all of the families. There were definitely some rough patches, like Orthoptera and some Coleoptera and Hemiptera IDs. But we knew the orders, definitely, and most of the families.
I definitely had trouble with Orthoptera, and I'm afraid I don't really have many good tips for that. >.> Sorry.

I don't know how much different Div. B Entomology is to Div. C. If you do know the 30 orders and 100 families, you might want to learn about anatomy.
