Re: Event Help Organization (read for explanation, then vote)
I don't know if it's too complicated but maybe we could do user groups for the Building Events, Lab Events, Study Events.
They would be headed by a mod or if you guys are too lazy a highly regarded member could do the job. The Usergroup head would have to approve all topics made by people not in the Usergroup for that section. Entrance into the Usergroup would be by invitation. This system could uphold whatever system with multiple threads per event. This is prabably too complicated but what the heck.
The alternative if we were to go with the method currently in the lead you could just make all the Topics then lock thread making in the event help section. This would save hundreds of kittens a month. It's hard to save the puppies without approving every post made by someone not in the usergroup.

No, too exclusive. Too regulatory.
Disabling new threads isn't a bad idea though.

There is a trend though most of the already answered questions/new threads come from people who are new. I don't know how you stop this, teach people to search their question in the thread?

I was thinking exactly that. Would it be possible to prevent users from posting new topics in the Event Help section until they've been a member at least a month or something?

It isn't too complicated, but we have more than enough of a caste system as is

Yeah, I wonder if there's a way to make it so that the user can't start a new thread, maybe even post, until they've read a sticky about what they should do beore they start a new thread or post a question. It's simple forum etiquette
