The wording of "feeding habits" makes it seem like they're talking about animals. You could put deposit feeder, suspension feeder, predator, and scavenger, although I've only seen this categorization applied specifically to benthic animals.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

Is the test taken together?

In your team of up to two, yes, you compete in the event (take the test) together.

Oh, is that what it was? Yeah.

In my past experiences, there have been three or four stations, all with an answer sheet to record (except the salinometer testing, obviously).

I've had stations too, but sometimes it can be a powerpoint/test packet.
2015 States- Invasives 10th, Fossils 12th
2014 States- Rocks and Minerals 3rd
2013 States- Rocks and Minerals 7th, Water Quality 9th
2012 States- Rocks and Minerals 10th

This year we had a 118-question test packet. The saline testing was odd to me; they gave us two known salinities (distilled water and 7% salt) and told us to find the other salinity. Unfortunately, my salinometer had run out of battery, and we just guessed, but that seemed weird to me.
