Yup. We had a lot of issues with definition of things at our own invitational back in November. (My school hosts one really early on in the season for some reason)

I didn't like how there was no physical barrier at my last competition. It sort of takes out the main objective of Scrambler and makes it twice as hard to get close to zero.

I don't see how it made it harder to get closer to zero? Unless you were planning on hitting the barrier soft enough to not crack the egg... I liked it because if a team went past the barrier there was no messy egg to clean up.

I'm not sure what they meant either, but I see how not having a wall could produce questions on whether the egg would have broken or not, without the chance to do the "is the napkin wet" test.

But the event is to touch the wall without breaking the egg. No wall. No breaking. I know there is no rules specially saying you need a physical barrier, but if you didn't why put rule about breaking the egg.

You say it is not harder to hit zero, but if you go past the terminal barrier it is a failed run. So if you had a run where you were 25cm in front of the imaginary barrier and another run where you are 1cm behind the imaginary barrier the second score doesn't count and you have a bad score.

But the fact that the barrier isn't there doesn't mean it's any different to your vehicle. The only way the barrier makes the difference is if you hit the wall without breaking the egg, hence, distance of 0. It doesn't make it easier, obviously, but the vehicle can't tell if the barriers there until it runs into it. Since I (and I believe a lot of people) weren't planning on hitting the wall with the egg at all, it's no different that there's no barrier.

Only the wheels of the Scrambler and any parts of the Scrambler in contact with the floor at the ready to run configuration are allowed to contact the floor. If any piece falls off the Scrambler during the run, it is a construction violation. Therefore the falling mass cannot touch the ground at any time.

I also have a question about this section of the scrambler rules. We are using a push rod method for a launcher, but once the push rob releases from the vehicle, it will come in contact with the floor. Since the push rod is part of the falling mass, will this be considered a construction violation? The main mass will swing but never touch the floor, only the push rod.
Results R/S
C 2014 = Scrambler - 1/1
C 2015 = Scrambler 2/3, Wright Stuff, 2/5, Bungy Drop, 4/-
C 2016 = Electric V. 1/2 , Wright 2/7
C 2017 = Electric V 1/1 , Helicop 1/1, Hover 2/-
C 2018 = Mouse V 1/1, Helicop 2/4

Since the push rod isn't in contact with the floor at the start of the run it would most likely be a violation. All we did was tie some fishing line from the push rod to the pivot point so the rod can be level to the ground but never touch it.

Is everyone in agreement that for Regionals, there are only four possible distances? 8.7m, 9.7m, 10.7m, 11.7m.
