Unless you're saying they actually seriously discussed flipping the names of the event (which would mean #3 is wrong), those three reasons should all follow.

Does anyone know exactly what they're referring to with "Plasmid selection and isolation"? It's a bit vague.

Well, plasmids are small portions of DNA that are separate from chromosomal DNA, they are most common in bacteria. I assume they mean anything pertaining to the selection for use in cloning (and other things).
