that would be the instructors call for some of that. however, you wont be able to screw anything into the mystery object. it cannot be harmed, you probably wont get away with taping either, its got to be easily removable.

It seems to me they'd have to let you tape it--if they say that isn't "easily removable," they're basically saying that you can't secure it at all. Tape is more easily removable than any other way you could hold something in place.

Would we be able to hand feed coins? I thought the rules said that the device had be designed so that a hand full of pocket change, with the value being up to $5, can be inserted into the device and will be sorted automatically after that.

At States, you can hand feed the coins in, but you can't at nationals.

It's part of the "Additional Specifications" section of the rules.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the FAQ's that were answered for JYC. As a summary, it states that rulers should be allowed, if a event supervisor chooses to listen to the FAQ.

So after reading the FAQ's, I'm kind of nervous about our use of the mystery object. Is it good enough for the mystery item to be essential to the accuracy of the device, or must it be essential to the operation? Because without the mystery item, our device would be far less accurate, but it would still work. One of those FAQ's made that really ambiguous, so now I'm kind of nervous about it.
