I meant on the forums...I was probably comparing to Illinois too much though, since that's all that I ever see ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Ehh, well it depends on the event, proctor, competition, etc. You can never know for sure.ScienceOlympian wrote:How hard is it to medal in State?
In general though, it's harder than states, but if you study/build hard it's do-able!

Re: North California 2013
Harder than our regionals, more medals are given out though. You can check results from previous years at the state site to see how teams do.ScienceOlympian wrote:How hard is it to medal in State?

Congrats!Beastybob12345 wrote:This is my first year in States, so can you tell me a bit of what to expect please?
So basically, from my experience it's pretty much the same as regionals, except it's slightly harder, and in a different location. Last year it was pretty cold and rainy in the morning - that might have been a one time thing though, but I dunno. It cleared up by the afternoon though. If you want, you guys could bring snacks or food or something, but it's up to you. I also highly suggest that you look around the campus with your partners, and finding the locations for your events beforehand so you don't end up running around lost. xD
Buuuut, yeah. It's really, really fun! Keep in mind that are a lot of teams there, so if you choose to you could talk to other people if you choose to. (Or you could always make animal noises at them and then run away. huehuehue)
i know that i should be in bed
and its almost 3 am
but when i close my eyes i can only see miles of headlights
fleshing out the distance

It's really hectic/busy/exciting, and you get to meet a lot of new people. Yes, be sure to bring food and something to do for when your events are done. Looking for your rooms is a big plus, definitely do that too.aim4me26 wrote:Congrats!Beastybob12345 wrote:This is my first year in States, so can you tell me a bit of what to expect please?

Also, since it seems like not many can make it, (also I'm starting to think those circle-things on the map are too big to be benches), the meet up is probably canceled. Feel free to say hi if you see me though! I'll probably be wearing this odd blue/black jacket without a zipper or a pony shirt

Re: North California 2013
Agreed. I'll be wearing jeans, sneakers, and a green jacket/red NSO t-shirt from Madison, with my hair up and possibly with an "event assistant" name tag. I'll also probably be sitting around reading something sciencey if I'm not in the scoring room or watching building events or wandering.mnstrviola wrote: Also, since it seems like not many can make it, (also I'm starting to think those circle-things on the map are too big to be benches), the meet up is probably canceled.
