Also, take the practice tests and take notes based on what you don't know. I found that that really helps.

I'm wondering if someone can answer a question ... if team members are doing all of their practice runs and calibrations with a LabQuest2 and thermometer probe, will use of the LabQuest2 and probe as the team's own thermometer for use during national competition be permitted? The rule book says teams can provide their own thermometer, but wanted to make sure this was considered a "thermometer" in the same category as others. Our regional and state level coordinators have given it a thumbs up, but our submission to the FAQ on soinc.org didn't get a response yet and we're not certain how it would be handled at that level. No use doing a lot of work on calibrations with a tool that's OK at state but not at nationals, potentially. Thanks!

I can not answer the question as that is for the national ES to interpret.
I do not like the idea of team temp measurement devices being used. I think that everybody should have the temp measured by the same instrument being in the liquid the same amount of time.
I know that on my cheap data logger that I had to plug in a calibration correction.
This event leaves a lot to be desired in fairness over the entire day. At least in our regional and state events.
While our teams build very good thermos jugs, (very reproduce able data)I would not feel bad if it was one of the events that was replaced.

Based on Ryan's last sentence, I think that he wants it to be used for official temperatures.
Calibration to me means applying corrections to the instrument to get closer to a true value. I would hope that the ES "thermometer" would be calibrated also. I would not bet a cup of coffee on it tho.

Hey guys!
I have a question about the plots. It says you are graded for the unit intervals. Should my team just include 20-40 min in ones or 1-40 min in twos for the x axis?(elapsed time). Also, is a temperature of 55 Celsius good after 40 min, starting temperature of 87 Celsius, 100 mL? ( in room temperature)
