Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
I didn't really know what to expect but I am guessing it could have held at least 13 kilos and it only held 9.5 kilos. Eh. Oh well. It's an invitational.benklee127 wrote:What score where you planning on getting? and what score won 1st?theging wrote:I'm Div C, and I got 6th at Wright State with a score of 950. That was enormously disappointing considering it would have held everything had the stupid humidity not warped it....ckssv07 wrote:I believe for divb eighth place was around 800-850 I have no idea what 1st was

Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
Boom #1:
Mass: 13.8 grams
Mass held: 7000 grams
Efficiency: 507
Boom #2:
Mass: 16.5 grams
Mass held: 14.5 grams
Efficiency: 879
This is the only time I will be posting my scores (for competitive reasons). Boom #2 was sort of like a chimney of a tower flipped horizontally for the compression part (is that called a box beam?).

Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
For the Rustin Invitational in Pennsylvania, my partner (siciscio) and I are bringing a boomilever weighing 8.3 g. We haven't done any testing yet this year, so we don't know how we'll do.
See some of you there?

Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
Seems a bit...risky. 8.3 is definitely the lightest I've heard of yet this year. All of my booms below 11 grams have failed spectacularly (I'm not saying yours will, thoughsilverheart7 wrote:For the Rustin Invitational in Pennsylvania, my partner (siciscio) and I are bringing a boomilever weighing 8.3 g. By now you probably already know, but I'll be there competing in Boomilever. I'm the time slot directly after your 4 teams, so I might see you walking out. My partner will probably be there with our boom beforehand anyway.
Good luck!

Although, the C boom limit is smaller than the B. But, someone (I forget who) pointed out that the forces on a B div. should be lighter, making B booms hypothetically lighter. I think 8.3 is a good weight for you though. If it holds over 10 ish, you'll do really well.

Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
Yay! For siciscio and I, our slot is the third of the day. If you see a Chinese girl with long hair, leather boots, a green t-shirt with a periodic table, and a fedora, there's a pretty good chance that's me. Hope to see you there!havenguy wrote:Seems a bit...risky. 8.3 is definitely the lightest I've heard of yet this year. Re: Ongoing Contest(Scores)
Ours is about 10 - 12 grams all together. The only thing we are worried about though is the compression. We have used overly strong compression that never broke and suprisingly this should be the first time we use balsa for comp. We should see how it is when it dries.
