Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
I'm also really confused about the wording of the prohibited materials list in the rules. When "plastic, metal, expandable glue, etc." is listed, does it refer to everything in these broad categories or does it mean within the foam category (i.e. plastic foams, metal foams, etc.)?

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
I think it is only withing the foam category, they are basically listing different types of foam, and supporting there statement that foam no matter what kind is not allowed, but I think its best, if you're still unsure, to send in a rule clarification. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that are confused by that same problem

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Is anyone reading any of the FAQ's? The last 2 questions asked were both answered as FAQ's already.

Thanks!! I often forget to read the national clarifications, focusing more on the state ones!bearasauras wrote:Is anyone reading any of the FAQ's? The last 2 questions asked were both answered as FAQ's already.

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Is anyone using plastic tupperware? I can't find an actual 15 cm diameter cylinder anywhere I've looked so far...does anyone know where to find one?

We can find those in Hobby Lobby, but I don't know about your town...maybe Hobby Town or something similar?

The dollar store is a great place. It is a "canister". The dia is good, but you will need to cut either the top or the bottom off as it is a little bit too high. We cut the bottom off so we could use the cover with it. Cut a 14.9 sq piece of thin board and hot glue gunned it together.

Oh thanks, I will check both Hobby Lobby and the Dollar Store out, though the dollar store might be more in our budget

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
The one thing I think that should be changed is that there should not be any question that are not in the rules to study and their should be question from what you should study. What I mean by this is in my compitition was their were not questions that deal with thermodynamics they only dealt with calories. Though I do understand the link I was not prepared for it. Also ever ones calculations were off because the amount off water we were told we were to receive was 250ml but insteade we received 53ml. So my wish is on all events the rules be linear to the rule book.siciscio wrote:Any thoughts on how the rules will/has changed for Keep the Heat?

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
You can't fix that by changing the rules book. The only way to fix that is to ensure every event supervisor across the country follows the written rules exactly, which is not possible due to the sheer number of them and their widespread geography.3-141592 and Co wrote:

FYI, questions dealing with calories are valid within the written rules and if you read the rules closely, you can receive anywhere in a range of volumes of water, not just 250mL (which actually isn't even in the allowable range.)
