Chia: As in your coach decides to put someone else on the event instead of you? If you're an 8th grader, slim to none...? Unless your coach really dislikes you or there are some super talented 7th graders on your team.

Thanks for replying, but actually I meant that Heredity and Keep the Heat might fall in the same time block at State. Also, my teacher likes me, she put me in varisty in 7th grad , I was only 11 yrs old at the time :) . And I got to replace some other varsity member when they couldn't do that event, so that's not the problem.
Skink, I got sooo lost at U of I. Me and 4 other girls got stuck at some intersection, good times.

Chia, this is what I meant :P

Speaking of getting lost at States, two years ago, on Ornithology's second year, we were walking, I somehow ended up in downtown, and...was about 20 minutes late for Ornithology, face completely red from racing across the school...Thank goodness the people were so nice and allowed us to stay after, ornithology being in the last time block, to make up what we missed :D

Just curious, anyone going to Lisle invite? It's only for JH kids, though.

Does anyone have a block chart thing for IMSA regionals division B?

tufted-so THAT'S why the wait was so long...

Cheesy-the tournament schedules--invites and Regionals--should all follow the event blocks posted, so you should be selecting your events based on them. You should not pick both Keep the Heat and Heredity as they should always conflict. Likewise, avoid combinations like Shock Value and Exp Design or Crime Busters and Heredity for the same reason. The tournament directors will eventually post the 2-block schedules, but those are based off the event blocks. Make sense?

In the scenario of doing Herdity and Keep the Heat, let's say I built the whole device (that happened last year).
If those events clashed at State (same timing), would I be given credit for my Keep the Heat device in the event of a medal?

Probably not "officially", since you wouldn't be the one signed up for the event, though you could just ask your teammate to give you the medal :P

I'm with chia pet. mrsteven has done this quite a bit, as I understand. As long as you get the medal, the 'credit' isn't worth much, anyways. I mean, myself and hundreds of others there don't know your name, so we wouldn't know the difference if it projected you or your best friend for Keep the Heat.

That said, though, I still wouldn't plan on preparing for two events that conflict...I mean, you have two (or more, as it may be) competitions prior to State where the same should be true. But do what you want and what's best for your team. If that means building the insulator device, knock yourself out.
