It's probably just best to bring up problems on this forum, I think the proper people will see it ;)

Yes we will... our email addresses are also rather easy to find if you search for them a bit. Also, if you go to the soinc.org website there is a simple form you can fill out to leave feedback.

New rules! I like the reduction in maximum mass (2.500 to 1.500 kg). The height score is... interesting... hope I don't have to resort to that 2 meter tall ramp for the maximum height score of 800 XD

We don't have the manual yet; can you elaborate on the rules?

Reduction in mass is totally going to change some things.

This is the general gist of the changes: maximum mass is lower, ramp specs make for a narrower base and twice the maximum height, part of the score uses the starting height of the car (lower is better - starting at 100 cm like last year would get you 200 pts versus 800 pts at 2 m), the predicted time score is weighted more highly than last year, and a couple of parameters were rephrased for clarity.
Also a clarification that you can't roll your car anywhere along the competition testing surface before your official run.

Two meter ramp... Can someone say bulky? But that's interesting. I like the mass reduction, probably for safety, I assume. The time prediction is nice because we consistently got within human timing error.

That leads me to the question... Does anything address timing errors? It seemed to be avid concern last year, and now that it's weighted more it's a bigger deal to fix.

Oh crap. My partner and I only did well because we landed spot on the distance, not because of our timing guess. Yikes.
Well, it's a new year.

I like the idea of a 2m ramp. Hehe.
Will the distance chosen still be within 5-10 m?

Just read the rules, got in the mail today, not liking the height scoring part :/
However, if i can make the height of vehicle exceed 300cm in loaded position, it creates a negative value for that, lowering my score! Low score wins

Low score wins.. most people won't want a 2m tall ramp.

Ugh, I know, right? I guess now that SoM is out they needed something to replace the pain of lugging around ridiculous amounts of PVC and wood :P (Nah, it's not actually that bad, this is just me the 5 ft tall girl complaining about carrying stuff around XD)

No, timing errors are not addressed - same timer rules as last year - and yes, same 5-10 m distance, a target point, etc.
