Anyone know what Solon's time was? And unofficially, what's the likelihood of this replacing helicopters?

I don't know the time, but this event is likely, if not very likely, to replace Helicopters in Division C for next year. This is an unofficial statement, and is from the tentative schedule for this year's summer institute.

They did, their two flight total was ~32 seconds. The ceiling in the elastic launch glider gym was ~26 feet.

I do not, but I would presume the flights were relatively even.

I know the AMA drop rate of 1ft/sec is very competitive (and I believe something was said about you holding a record for that at some point?), do you think this is a rate we'll get to with the SO gliders in this event?

On the subject of next year's event... I don't think that they would repeat helicopters again regardless of what replaces it, its been around for 2 years as the cycle goes. But hey, if Chalker and the other rule developers deem it to be so, I won't be complaining I love that event. However, if doing some practice over the summer I think some sort of glider event (whether it be catapult, or towline) would be a good call.

I think this event ran rather smoothly other than the door being open and closed multiple times and the aircondition being on, but that is always going to be a factor. It's a shame that 22 teams got Dq'd or didnt compete. Any reasons why?

I actually think SO kids will exceed the AMA rates. Not only are the SO rules likely to be (slightly) less restrictive than the AMA rules, but you all will have much stronger incentives to perform well. From what I've seen, individuals put much more effort toward supporting their team than they do striving for individual records. I would honestly be shocked if the AMA national catapult records would not belong to either an active SO competitor or Alum in 3 years.

They weren't DQ'd, you'd see that obviously on the scoresheet (they would have a score of 62 on the score sheet if they did.) A score of 61 is simply indicating did not participate. Trial events historically have a relatively low percentage of participation compared to official events for a variety of reasons.
