The ramp is supposed fit a rectangular box with a 100 cm height, 75 cm width , and 75 cm length AND in addition something that wasn't on the check off list (but was on the score sheet) said that " Vehicle's track is less than 35 cm". So I have 2 problems. When it says that the ramp has to fit in those dimensions does that only refer to the part that the car is rolling down on? For instance, my board that the car is rolling down fits those parameters but when I add the beams that are supporting my board on the side I exceed those parameters. Does those beams count in the measurement? And my second problem is referring to the part that says "vehicle's track is less than 35 cm". Does that mean that the board can only be 35 cm wide (instead of 75 cm) or does that mean that the length that the car travels is only 35 cm?
track width is the distance between the two axles. i think...
No.
Track (width) is the width (of the vehicle), from outside of one wheel to outside of the other (on the longest axle if different axle lengths). Wheelbase (which is not regulated by the rules) is the distance between the axles

Thank you everyone who has replied for being very helpful! Another problem with our ramp is that we do not have a curved bottom, any tips or pointer on making the bottom curved?

Well, what material is the ramp surface? Is it nailed/glued down to a rigid triangular frame?

3 seconds to 8.5m is very respectable. Ditto 5cm.

Lets get the scores in the score tracker instead. You can post them here too, if you want, but that's really where they should go.

regionals
~2.8s
37mm
estimated time:2:45

it seems that most people at our regional had their time longer than their predicted
for timing, there were 3 people, mabye 4, but they were not very independent
one person was where the car approximately stopped, and would yell stop. he gives a time, and people at a desk approx. 10m away would then also have a time, based on when they hear "stop!"
possibly the person near the car was slow to yell stop, and also the delay between him yelling stop and the timers at the table made the run time longer

are there some type of brake involving gears? just wondering...

Does anyone know possible brake mechanism that would be within a small area and hard to see?
troy's car was light, and had a very thin stick-like body.
I couldn't see the brake mechanism, but, it would run, lunge forward a bit, and bounce back a little, no visible skid
is there some brake mechanism that cud have been contained inside a hollow 1cm diam. tube?
