Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what types of mathematical questions are on DynPlanet? Like....what are the types of equations I should know, aside from the stream flow, discharge, load, floods, and recurrence intervals?

Well in C division there is the Chezy Manning equation... I can't think of too many more besides what you already posted.aznluvsricemhm wrote:Hi there! Wow! We have a lot of events in commonaznluvsricemhm wrote:Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what types of mathematical questions are on DynPlanet? Like....what are the types of equations I should know, aside from the stream flow, discharge, load, floods, and recurrence intervals?

Considering you're not in division C, no need to worry about Cheezy/Manning equations (or however you spell it).
Hydraulic head and hydraulic gradient is important to learn.
Also, just remember stuff like how to find surface area, volume, pressure, etc. because they might be on the test too.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
So does anyone know what the difference is between infiltration and percolation? If there is any. Thanks in advance

Infiltration is runoff/precipitation getting past the top of the ground. After that, the water percolates through the ground as groundwater.hexagonaria wrote:So does anyone know what the difference is between infiltration and percolation? If there is any. Thanks in advance
EDITed because of grammar fail.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Infiltration is also generally downward, whereas percolation can be in any direction.
Road Scholar seems to depress everyone on my team who does it, but it's my favorite event...

Infiltration is the process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil.mnstrviola wrote:Infiltration is runoff/precipitation getting past the top of the ground. Percolation concerns the movement and filtering of fluids through porous materials.
So basically, infiltration is when the fluid goes into the soil, and percolation is when the fluid actually reaches the water table and goes past it. Hope my answer is not too confusing.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
I am suddenly in this event 24 days before Regionals. Exactly what are we supposed to do? (Other than read the rules and look at the stuff there, of course. More specifics, preferably.)
Also, since apparently I'm doing 7 other events, I won't have all that much time to study for this. What would you guys prioritize and study?
