Goodbye Rocks and Minerals

Post by chastayo »

I would like us all to bow our heads for this deceased event. I will now recite my emotions.

Dearly scientific, we are gathered here today to celebrate the memories of this amazing event. In times of binder troubles, confusing specimens, and crazy judges we learned not only about geology, but about ourselves. Our patience may have been tested, but our hearts will not forget the honor, glory, and fancy medals this event gave us.

FOR THE LOVE OF SLATE, WHY!!!!!!!

=( Rocks and minerals, we barely knew ye. As you can tell by my name, im rather fond of the event, and as im gonna be a senior next year, no more R and M for me. =(
On the bright side, i plan on being a geology major, so there will be rocks in my future after all =)

Isn't fossils somewhat similar to rocks and minerals? I know the study/event processes are similar, but don't the subject areas overlap a bit?

There is some rock identification. It's all sedimentary, since fossils only form in sedimentary rock, but you also have to know coal, and anthracite is considered by some to be metamorphic. Formation of rock is also asked, and thats really it. The rest is identification, anatomy (to some extent), environment, mode of life, that kind of stuff.

The annoying thing is, I medaled at Nats in rocks before, and if we made it to nationals last year, i KNOW we could have gotten first.

*Wipes away a tear*
I never did this event, but our school kicked butt at it. Now we're gonna have to find a different even to kick butt at... :(
My name is Eileen.
I'm a proud Aspie girl.
My events are Physical Science Lab (first at state), Ornithology (first at state), and Shock Value (third at state), this year.
We're going to NATIONALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I am from Yankton, South Dakota.
