This year, however, we're determined to dominate the competition like we did two years ago. And so we are practicing with any random stuff we can find (not that hard to do).
I hope you have a better season this year :)

Yep, I think I wrote about this on last year's topic after the fact, if it's IL State you're talking about. Expect anything. That means go to a messy counter, desktop, anything at home, tape a handful or more of random junk, throw it in a pile, and you have a model to do this event with. Almost.

Anyone know if Cartesian Coordinates are allowed to be used in the writing?

I would specify ahead of time to be on the safe side. It could be interpreted as a code if you don't.

So write like:
Put X object at 2,5 (coordinates) on object B

?

Or what you could do is define it at the top of your writing so you don't have to put (coordinates) after every time you use it. Something like "(number, number) will represent coordinates"

Yeah, what zyzzyva said, but make sure to confirm that it's okay with your regional/state proctor because there's no specific rule for this kind of situation in the manual.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

Going back to building materials for practice:
I suggest having someone who isn't afraid to make it hard build it for you, instead of building it yourself. If you build it yourself, then no matter how much you deny it you're going to remember how you attached different things. My partner and I always ask our coach to make something, because she enjoys watching us trying to recreate her insanely difficult structures. It's kind of evil, actually.

Also, I just realized that all those times I wrote out the names of the different K'Next pieces, I could've just made a key at the beginning. :x Wow, no wonder it takes me so long to write instructions.

Apparently this year the event coordinators are going to be using common household items, like paper plates, paper, cups, tape, etc. (or, at least in NJ). Has anyone else heard this?
